Care Tips

As an organic and fragile material, leather requires special and delicate care to avoid premature wear and tear. Leather is a material that develops a patina. With time its texture and colour will vary. These variations will give your leather goods character. Nevertheless, it is important to maintain them carefully so that they do not become damaged.

Depending on the type of leather, maintenance is different. Our leather care guide will help you know the best way to care for your PAUL MARIUS items according to their composition.

Smooth Leather

Protect

Invulner Saphir Waterproofing Spray

  • Most leathers used by PAUL MARIUS are naturally water resistant. However, to be on the safe side, we recommend waterproofing your bag with a waterproofing spray. Repeat the operation regularly, especially after exposure to rain.

Clean

Clean and dry cloth

  • In case of stains, wipe the leather with a soft and clean cloth to remove excess residue.

Nourish

Saphir Universal Cream 

  • For the maintenance of smooth leather goods (full grain and corrected grain leather) we recommend using the Saphir Universal Cream. Apply every two or three months with a clean white cloth to nourish and protect the leather. This will restore the leather's shine.

Nubuck & Suede Leather

Protect

Invulner Saphir Waterproofing Spray

  • Nubuck and suede leathers are fragile leathers. Which are not naturally waterproof. We recommend you protect your bag and accessories from possible exposure to rain with a waterproofing spray. Repeat the operation regularly, especially after exposure to rain.

Clean

Saphir Cleaning Sponge

  • In order to remove any dust that may have settled on your nubuck and suede leather goods, we recommend that you clean them with the Saphir Cleaning Sponge.

Nourish

Saphir Rénovétine

  • Saphir Renovétine protects and nourishes nubuck and suede leather. We recommend that you apply Saphir Rénovétine after cleaning your bag and accessories.

Oiled Leather

Protect

Oiled leather is naturally water resistant. Therefore, it is not advisable to apply a waterproofing spray to your oiled leather goods.

Clean

  • In case of stains, wipe the leather with a soft and clean cloth to remove excess residue.

Nourish

Saphir Oiled Leather Polish Cream

  • To nourish and maintain the colour and matt texture of your oiled leather goods we recommend applying the Saphir Oiled Leather Polish Cream. Apply every two to three months with a clean white cloth to nourish and protect the leather. This will give it back its suppleness and a nice patina.

Metallic Leather

Protect

  • This type of leather is fragile. Therefore, we advise you to avoid all rubbing and contact with abrasive materials as much as possible.
  • We strongly advise against the use of waterproofing agents or sprays on your metallic leather good. It can strongly alter the colour of the metallic foils.

Clean

Clean and dry cloth

  • In case of stains, wipe the leather with a soft cloth to remove excess residue.

Nourish

Saphir Gel

  • To nourish and maintain the colour of your metallic leather goods, we advise you apply the Saphir Gel. Apply every two to three months with a clean white cloth to nourish and protect the leather. This will give it back its shine.

Patent Leather

Protect

  • This type of leather is fragile. We therefore advise you avoid all rubbing and contact with abrasive materials as much as possible.

Nettoyer

Nourish

Saphir Rife Liquid Varnish

  • We recommend you apply Saphir Rife Liquid Varnish in small quantities to varnished surfaces only, using the cloth provided. Leave for 3 minutes and wipe with a clean and dry cloth to remove the white film that has formed.

PAUL MARIUS' extra tips...

In addition to our care tips, there are a few things you can do to keep your leather goods in top condition :


Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with water. If your leather goods get wet, remove excess water with a clean and dry cloth without rubbing. Then dry them in open air, away from a source of heat.



To prevent leather from fading prematurely, avoid exposing your PAUL MARIUS leather goods in direct sunlight or strong artificial light for too long.



We recommend that you store your PAUL MARIUS leather goods in their dust bags and in a dry place, away from a source of heat or direct light.
